Who Are We?
The International Enterprise Architecture Center (ieac.org) is a global,
independent, nonprofit professional membership organization dedicated
to the dissemination of knowledge about enterprise architectures,
management and the marketplace to help members strengthen their performance
and better serve society.
The IEAC assists in the development of enterprise architecture
frameworks, methods and disciplines across all enterprise environments,
as well as support for the enterprise architecture professionals that
make those frameworks and methods useful.
An enterprise architecture is a pathway and working process rather than an
end-state. In the increasingly complex IT scenario, the merit of a living enterprise
architecture surpasses simple ROI measurement to encompass the survival, harmony and
excellence of those organizations that have the will to create and ascribe.
What is our Focus
Area?
Enterprise Architects identify technologies that are intrinsic to
successful systems integration change journies and define how these
technologies are used within the context of the strategic goals of
the enterprise. The following are examples of competencies
that fall within the scope of the Enterprise Architect:
Identification, prioritization/ phasing, and
implementation planning of technology componentsto enable indentifiable business
capabilities.
Operating Strategy
IT Merger and Acquisition
IT Capability Assessment
Business Capability Blueprints
Technology Infrastructure Capability Blueprint definition
Application Blueprint definition
Delivery Vehicle Blueprint definition
Key focus areas include:
Business Architecture Definition defines the human performance, business process
and technology blueprints required to enable an organization's ability to create value
through a distinct part of their operation. The alignment of these business integration
elements is required to deliver the operating vision and realize the Value Proposition
defined by the operating strategy.
Value Realization Planning defines how the benefits related to the defined
Business Architecture should be attained within an organization. This effort balances the
long term strategic initiatives and short-term initiatives to optimize the value stream.
The focus of the Enterprise Architect is to identify enabling technologies and their costs
as part of the value stream equation.
IT Assessment defines the current state of the IT technology architecture at an
organization. It is used to identify what can be leveraged from the current technology
architecture, as well as what effort will be required to transition from the current
technology architecture to the future technology architecture.
Application Architecture Blueprint Creation defines the characteristics, styles
and interactions among multiple applications. The application architecture defines the
applications required to enable the business architecture. This includes identifying how
the applications interact with each other, how they will interact with other business
integration elements and how the application and data will be distributed throughout the
organization.
Delivery Vehicle Architecture Blueprints define the technology services required
to build, execute and operate the applications and technology architecture required to
enable the business architecture. The delivery vehicle architecture defines the style and
generation of technologies required to deliver the required service to the business in
order to achieve the business vision and goals. This includes identifying the technology
services within the development, execution, operation and physical network and computing
environments required to enable the applications.
